Club Results: Greyhounds Multi-Meet

On August 3-4, Ultra Throw masters members took on the Throws Pentathlon at the Combined Events Meet, hosted by Greyhounds Track & Field Club in Coquitlam at Percy Perry Stadium. This event, which brought together over 80 athletes from 20 clubs across Canada and the USA, was a fantastic display of dedication and competitive spirit.

Ultra Throw’s own David Ulis, Ken Townsend, and Robbin Whachell stepped up to represent our team, delivering impressive performances against strong competition. Here are their final results in the Throws Pentathlon:

  • David Ulis – 2927 points, winning 75+ Men’s Gold

  • Ken Townsend – 2112 points, earning 75+ Men’s Silver

  • Robbin Whachell – 2320 points, securing 60+ Women’s Bronze

These results are a testament to the hard work and skill of each athlete. A special thank you goes to the Greyhounds and the dedicated BC Athletics officials who made this event possible. Their hard work ensured a smooth, high-caliber meet that athletes and spectators alike could enjoy.

Club Results: BC Masters Championship and the Jack Brow Memorial Meet

The 2024 BC Masters Championship and the Jack Brow Memorial Meet were conducted by the Okanagan Athletic Club at the Apple Bowl Stadium, Kelowna from the 28–30 of June.

Five of our masters athletes and one of the youth athletes participated. All did the Club proud with sterling performances.

Results achieved by them were as follows:

Shawn Stevens (50–54 yrs)

  • Hammer Throw: Gold

  • Discus Throw: Gold

  • Weight Throw: Gold

  • Throws Pentathlon: Silver

Paramjit Gill (65–69 yrs)

  • Throws Pentathlon: Gold

Mohan Bains (70–74 yrs)

  • Hammer Throw: Gold

  • Throws Pentathlon. - Gold

  • Shot Put: Silver

  • Discus Throw: Silver

  • Javelin Throw: Silver

  • Weight Throw: Silver

Harnek Toor (75–79 yrs)

  • Hammer Throw: Gold

  • Javelin Throw: Gold

  • Weight Throw: Gold

  • Throws Pentathlon: Gold

  • Shot Put: Silver

  • Discus Throw: Bronze

Ken Townsend (75–79 yrs)

  • Javelin Throw: Silver

  • Throws Pentathlon: Silver

  • Weight Throw: Bronze

  • Hammer Throw: Bronze

  • Shot Put: Bronze

Tatyanna Stevens ( U15 yrs)

  • Hammer Throw: Gold

Above results speak for the domination in each category of throwing events and the age groups. They have maintained it from the past years.

Tatyanna showed her resolve in the hammer throw. All eyes will be on her to see old records coming tumbling down in her stride.

Our heartiest congratulations to each athlete for not only living up to the reputation of our Club but enhancing it further.

Club Results: BC Masters Indoor Championship

The 2024 BC Masters Indoor Championship were held at the Kamloops Indoor Stadium on August 8 and 9.

A total number of 60 masters athletes took part with 36 males and 24 female athletes.

There were only two throwing events scheduled being an indoor meet. These were Shot Put and Weight throw.

Four Ultra Throw Club members participated. Their performances were praiseworthy, results of which were as follows:

  • Dave McDonald (70–74)
               - Weight Throw         - Gold Medal
    (He broke the existing BC Masters indoor Weight Throw record of 15.81 M with a throw of 16.19 M)

  • Jaswinder PANNU (65–69)
                 - Shot Put                - Gold Medal
                 - Weight Throw      - Gold Medal

  • Mohan Bains (70–74)
                 - Shot Put               - Gold Medal
                 - Weight Throw      - Silver Medal.

  • Harnek Toor (75–79)
                 - Shot Put                 - Gold Medal
                 - Weight Throw        - Gold Medal

Performances of our members dominated the field in both the throws and they have done our Club proud. Our heartiest congratulations to each one of them and wish them good hunting in the outdoor competitions at the BC, Canadian and the World Masters level ahead during the year.

2019 Ultra Throw AGM and Awards Held

The Ultra Throw annual general meeting was held on September 28 at McLeod Athletic Park in Surrey.

It was a time to come together and celebrate the successes of the season over a barbecue lunch in the picnic area of the park.

Thanks to those who participated, and congrats to Rose Hare who took home both of our coveted awards.

The 2019 Ambassador of the Year is yet to be determined and will be done so by a club vote via email.

After the awards the meeting portion took place.

Two positions are pending and will soon be determined and after that time the full executive will be announced.
