The Ultra Throw annual general meeting was held on September 15, 2024 at McLeod Athletic Park in Langley after the Club Championships.

The meeting was held next to the shot put area.

Congrats to the new 2024/25 executive voted-in. They include the following:

  • President, Harnek Toor

  • Vice-President, David Ulis

  • Secretary/Communications, Robbin Whachell

  • Treasurer, Dave McDonald

  • Director of Athletic Development, Sean Stevens

  • Director, Ken Townsend

The Club looks forward to future growth in 2025. Registration for the new season is already underway.

CLUB DONATIONS RECEIVED

Treasurer Dave McDonald receives a $500 donation presented by Harnek Toor on behalf of Gurinder Toor of Alpha House Mortgage Corp.

Paramjit Gill presented a $500 to our treasurer, Dave McDonald.

Thank you also to Jaswinder Pannu who presented a $250 sponsorship donation to Dave McDonald.


BC & Canadian Record Broken in Men's Super Weight Throw

Dave McDonald (image, top left), founder and head coach for Ultra Throw, broke the BC Masters record in the Super Weight at the Patti Petesch Seattle Parks Preview Track & Field Meet on 1 June, 2024. Dave achieved a distance of 8.25m! The previous record was was 8.13m.

Dave was joined by other Ultra Throw members: Harnek Toor, Mohan Bains and Dave Ulis. The Ultra Crew did very well at the event:

  • Dave M: Gold in Hammer; Gold in SWT (Record)

  • Mohan: Silver in Hammer; Gold in Shot; Gold in Discus; Gold in Javelin; Gold in Weight

  • Dave U: Silver in Discus; Gold in Javelin

  • Harnek Toor: Silver in Hammer; Bronze in Shot; Bronze in Discus; Silver in Javelin; Silver in Weight; Bronze in Super Weight; and Gold in Long Jump.

It was a good start being the first outdoor Meet of the season, and should pave a way for improved standards during BC Masters Track & Field Championship slated for later this month in Kelowna.

Club Results: BC Masters Indoor Championship

The 2024 BC Masters Indoor Championship were held at the Kamloops Indoor Stadium on August 8 and 9.

A total number of 60 masters athletes took part with 36 males and 24 female athletes.

There were only two throwing events scheduled being an indoor meet. These were Shot Put and Weight throw.

Four Ultra Throw Club members participated. Their performances were praiseworthy, results of which were as follows:

  • Dave McDonald (70–74)
               - Weight Throw         - Gold Medal
    (He broke the existing BC Masters indoor Weight Throw record of 15.81 M with a throw of 16.19 M)

  • Jaswinder PANNU (65–69)
                 - Shot Put                - Gold Medal
                 - Weight Throw      - Gold Medal

  • Mohan Bains (70–74)
                 - Shot Put               - Gold Medal
                 - Weight Throw      - Silver Medal.

  • Harnek Toor (75–79)
                 - Shot Put                 - Gold Medal
                 - Weight Throw        - Gold Medal

Performances of our members dominated the field in both the throws and they have done our Club proud. Our heartiest congratulations to each one of them and wish them good hunting in the outdoor competitions at the BC, Canadian and the World Masters level ahead during the year.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the award recipients and express our gratitude to all members for their continued dedication and hard work.

Harnek Toor receives the Challenge Trophy (aggregate throws pentathlon point total for Ultra Throw meets). The award was presented by Robbin Whachell, Ultra Throw Vice President. (Langley, BC)

Best 2023 scores in an individual throws pentathlon:

  • Harnek - 3339

  • Dave Ulis - 2827

  • Mohan Bains - 2725

For aggregate scores combining the two meets in throws pentathlon:

  • Harnek - 6253

  • Ken - 4486

  • Dave U - 2827

The new trophy is for top aggregate scores for the throws triathlon:

  • Alan Coles - 2361

  • Harnek - 1578

  • Mohan - 1577

Harnek Toor receives the Ultra Cup for 2023 (single highest throws pentathlon points scored in Ultra Throw meets). The award was sponsored by Alpha Mortgage House Corporation and was presented by Robbin Whachell, Ultra Throw Vice President. (Langley, BC)

The Ultra Throw annual general meeting was held on September 24, 2023 at McLeod Athletic Park in Langley after the Club Championships.

The meeting was held next to the shot put area. The club thanked Betsy Rollins who served as our registrar in years past. The following is an excerpt from the President’s Report:

"Betsy Rollins has been an honoured member of Ultra Throw Club since its inception and proved to be a beacon of guidance to those who needed it. She aided in the growth of the club and enhanced our Club name. Not only an athlete but an excellent official who helped us at many meets. We all are grateful for her contributions.”

The Club looks forward to new youth members coming on board. Ultra Throw had excellent performances this year by its members, in particular at the Canadian Masters Athletics Championships and the 55+ BC Games.”
