Stevens attends World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships
/Ultra Throw’s own sets BC record and makes first World Final!
Shawn Stevens recently returned from Gainesville, Florida, where he proudly represented Ultra Throw and Canada at the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships — and he came home with some impressive milestones!
🏅 Weight Throw Finalist + Provincial Record!
In his standout event, Weight Throw, Shawn launched a personal best of 14.51 metres, setting a new BC Provincial Indoor Record and finishing 8th in the world — his first-ever appearance in a World Final.
But Shawn didn’t stop there. He was the only male thrower in his division to compete in all five throws events, showing incredible range and determination. His full results:
Weight Throw – 14.51m (PB + BC Indoor Record) – 8th place
Hammer Throw – 32.26m – 10th place
Discus – 35.52m – 15th place
Javelin – 25.68m – 14th place
Shot Put – 10.20m – 13th place
Reflecting on the experience, Shawn shared:
"My main takeaways from the worlds are all of the great friendships, followed by the elite fitness, speed, strength, and technique of all the great athletes. The hosts and locals have all been fantastic. I do not have one complaint about the whole experience!"
